Art Products I’m Using for Watercolor and Mixed Media

One of the questions I get fairly regularly is what art products I’m using. Most of the time it’s what printer and what paper I’m using. So I am compiling a list of all my favorites here. Almost all of the links are affiliate links. So at no cost to you if you make a purchase using them then I receive a small commission. Thanks for supporting me as an independent artist!

My Printer

I use the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 and I am so happy with it. It prints up to 13″ x 19″ and 11″ x 14″ is the biggest I personally print right now so that’s perfect for me. I know it’s a little pricier but I wanted something that would be archival. Since this printer uses pigment based inks it’s going to create prints that last longer!

My Paper for Prints

I use several different types of paper for my prints depending on what I’m printing, but the paper from Red River is my favorite and you can order a sample pack to test prints and see which is your favorite.

My Paper for Watercolors

I like the Arches brand a lot. I’ve tried a bunch of different brands, and actually started with just the cheapest stuff from Michaels. But this paper is thick and high quality. I love that it is cold pressed so it absorbs the water and pigment and because it is 140 lb I haven’t dealt with any warping!

Paints

For watercolor I have tried lots of different kinds of watercolors, and I think what’s most important is the paper. But these Winsor & Newton ones are my favorite watercolors. They have a student line and a professional line! The student line is obviously going to be more affordable and honestly I really like it!

And for Gouache I got influenced by Tiktok and actually love these Himi ones.
