Family Lifestyle Portraits | Cassie and Jess

Not everyone knows this, but I started my photography journey with the desire to capture family memories! I was a senior in high school when I took my first photo class, but for my whole life I’d valued the memories that photos captured. Some of my favorite memories with my mom from when I was little was making scrapbooks together. When we went places we would bring a disposable camera and capture the trip. What I learned after a trip to the zoo where I solely took photos of the animals, and my mom took photos of the people, is that the memories of people enjoying the activity are irreplaceable. 

So the trend of lifestyle images for family photos is probably my favorite thing that has ever happened. Capturing you eating ice cream, making cookies, or snuggling on the couch are memories that will be cherished for as long as they are passed down. Don’t get me wrong, I love traditional family portraits where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. But these photos where you’re just existing in the moment have a special place in my heart. 

So when I found out that Cassie and Jessi’s son loves going to the arcade right now more than anything else I knew that’s where we should do their session. We arrived at Uptown Alley about 3 minutes before they opened and Noah immediately wanted to go inside! It was so sweet watching his eyes light up with excitement!  

When we got inside Noah knew exactly where his favorite arcade games were. Following this sweet family around the arcade was so much fun! If you have a favorite family activity I’d love to know what it is! 

P.S. if you think that your kiddo won’t behave for long enough for a photo session don’t worry! We captured all of these photos in less than a half hour! And this isn’t even the full gallery!! I hope you love these lifestyle family portraits!
